A bit about Hannah B

I launched psychology as a brand new subject at one of the best A-level schools in Shanghai and thrived on the pressure of building up a brand new department from scratch; I enjoyed watching it go from strength to strength, resulting in 80% of psychology students achieving A/A* at A level (well above the global average of 16%). For two years in a row, one of my students achieved the highest overall A-level psychology score in the whole of China for the CIE exam board. I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Education. I am also an examiner for A Level Psychology. The thing I enjoy most about psychology is its relevance to absolutely every aspect of life – from the reasons why we choose to wear the clothes we do, to the reason why we get on better with some people than others, to the reason why we study the subjects we do. Unlike other subjects at school, we don’t start learning psychology until GCSE/ A-level and I love seeing the rapid progress students can make in this subject in a short amount of time. I love working with young people and sharing my passion for psychology - I have the best job in the world! Seeing the rapid progress students can make and those genuine ‘lightbulb’ moments I lived in China for 9 years and so have a great interest in Asian culture and learning Mandarin. I also have a dachshund puppy and love walks with him (apologies if he sometimes creeps into lessons!)
