A bit about Fouzia R

My specialism is in Sociology, Criminology and Psychology at GCSE, A Level and Access to Higher Education level in various further education establishments for the last fifteen years. I have taught across various exam specifications with units including the Family, Education, Crime and Deviance, Criminological theories, Social Work and Research Methods. In particular, focusing on Societal issues which is often characterised with describing and explaining patterns of inequality, deprivation and conflict, which are a feature of almost all societies. I started tutoring three years ago, alongside my main employment teaching at a further education college. I teach about subjects for which I have a passion. Working as a tutor allows me to engage with my passion and it can remain a part of my daily life. I often work with students over a long time period, so I can see these students grow and improve. Knowing that I helped students improve in their studies provides me with my own feeling of accomplishment. Since each student is different, I can find teaching strategies that work for each individual for example, learners can ask specific questions and receive concrete answers that are personally understandable to them. It can be practiced and explained as needed in a protected space. I thoroughly enjoy this challenging aspect of working as a tutor. I’ve been teaching for the past 15 years, but education is more than a profession for me. During the summer, I like to go travelling to a new country visiting historical sites and learning about the culture. As a social studies teacher, there’s something special about being able to bring in a personal anecdote when teaching a topic. Students who aren’t always interested in the content will often engage when I can bring in my own experiences. When I am not working, I spend my time in fulfilling and relaxing pursuits such as cooking, reading autobiographies, crime novels and psychological literature, painting and fashion. I enjoy connecting with people and I am open to interesting work offers which started as an interest but has grown into a full-time passion. I am a self-driven leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can effectively collaborate at all levels and foster quality relationships with students.
