A bit about Mike N

I am a lecturer in mechanical Engineering and I have been teaching Maths and engineering for almost a decade. I specialise in Maths, Further Maths and Mechanics at all levels including CAD design. I am a passionate of Aerospace Engineering, DIY and Teaching. I have always been involved in helping people or students understand better engineering and mathematical concepts. I love space documentaries and believe we will be soon an interplanetery travelling species. I love to go to museums and visit iconic architectural buildings. I would present a problem, then gather ideas on ways to solve it from the students, then structurally presents common and effective technics to solve the problem. Then I would ask the learner to solve a similar problem. Finally I would require the student to reflect on its perfomance and practise further. I think Benjamin Franklin has well stated it: "tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn". I would say my purpose is not to teach, but to help students learn through teaching. I has been to help some learners improve by 3 grades from a grade 2 in maths.
